Removing a tooth can sometimes be the only option if it has been damaged beyond repair or if it remaining in the mouth is detrimental to your general oral health.
While we will attempt to save as many of your natural teeth as possible, on occasion it becomes necessary to extract a damaged or decayed tooth. It may also be necessary to remove teeth prior to orthodontic treatment if your mouth is overcrowded.
The additional teeth or tooth is extracted to create space for your other teeth to move into a better alignment. Impacted wisdom teeth may also need to be removed when they cause repeated infections, cause overcrowding or are unable to break through the gums. At TiggaSmile we understand that tooth extraction may seem like a daunting prospect, but as experts in oral health, we will only recommend this if it is the best course of action for your oral health.
Prior to your tooth being removed, we will explain the process so you know the steps that will be taken. In most cases tooth extraction is a quick painless procedure
Many patients can manage the procedure with local anaesthetic applied to the affected area, however, we can offer sedation if you feel anxious about the procedure or are worried about experiencing pain. Our dentists are sedation experts and highly experienced and skilled in tooth extraction and will ensure you know how to look after the site once the procedure has been completed.
